About us and our journey with the paranormal

Our aim firstly is not to reinvent the entire wheel, but definitely change the shape of the vehicle. In the past few years a lot has changed in paranormal research and investigation. A lot for better and a lot for the worse, we aren't here to debate that. We make it clear that NPN aren't here to make a mint from what we believe is part of everyone s journey, sure making money is not a bad thing but I would be happy to have NPN become self sustaining.

OK, NPN was the brainchild of yours truly in name and in spirit, no pun intended. The initial plan for NPN was "To be a Nottinghamshire Network of Investigators, knowledgeable individuals and groups, interested parties and from varying backgrounds of subjects with the intention of sharing and trading information for the betterment of everyone involved and the subjects we have an interest in."

NPN, we are here to add to the catalogue of mounting evidence of paranormal occurrences and to find the meaning behind them for the bigger picture of the world in both a physical and spiritual sense from our corner of the world. Our mission statement - as businesses put it.
 
Since Nottinghamshire Paranormal Network came to be in 2006 we have been featured, contacted, mentioned and supported by BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio Nottingham, UK SCI FI Channel, Radio Moja (Canada), Century FM, Radio Hucknall, Nottingham Evening Post, Hucknall Dispatch, Mansfield Chad, Nottingham Journal...amongst many others. We have been propositioned for a regular timeslot radio show on one of the UKs premier online broadcasting companies. Published a number of successful digital magazines entitled "Beyond The Line" and "Truth is out there" to much excitement in the paranormal community and has received much acclaim for the high quality writing, exciting subject matters and style of presentation. Released a publicly available DVD entitled "A look behind the mirror". We launched a published section upon our website entitled the "Feature Hub" where ourselves and anyone can publish articles, features, interviews to be available to everyone.

Paranormal Network and Nottinghamshire Paranormal Network.

In 2009, the direction of our web presence has changed which you can read about on the site. The NPN website Portal NPNetwork.org.uk was a stage not only for our research, our team, our investigations, but also articles, features, downloadable content, interviews and a variety of media. As we stepped well beyond the roles of just investigators, we took a decision after feedback to effectively split the website content. Having our produced media, popular features, our digital downloads now available to all here on ParanormalNetwork.co.uk and not under the banner of Nottinghamshire Paranormal Network, because it gave the impression everything we produced was about Nottingham, when in fact our articles, features reach far out beyond.

Here was our gripe... with the paranormal  (seconded by many) when NPN started.

One of the main issues with these "Ghost Hunts" or late night lock ins at allegedly haunted pubs is that often 3/4 of the people who turn up and attend, you have no idea who they are and afterwards it's unlikely you will see or hear from them again. So evidence you may have in the form of photographs or video recordings can't be substantiated by someone elses' sound recording or monitored EMF readings, as everyone wants to keep their gathering information for themselves or the private group with whom they have come with. As no one knows each other outside of these "kliqs". Brickwall number 1! Yet a good 80% of alleged ORGANIZED investigations are arranged and done in this way, this is only an estimate. But check it for yourself use the internet, call your contacts, email those you know have done organized ghost hunt nights, 80% sounds about right, I am sure you will agree. You will ALSO be 40-90 pounds or so lighter in pocket, for seeing some theatrics, wandering round aimlessly for hours, then oddly to get kicked out between 2-4am, so much for an evening of gathering evidence in the name of paranormal investigation. The venue making itself a good £1000+ in the process. Which is a separate gripe all together

Certain groups have this problem first of all you need to pay to join our group, then you pay to go to investigations and meetings, then pay for newsletters/magazines. Paying out the nose for everything you do for and with this group, or you join a group as you don't talk to anybody outside the group and it becomes far too serious so in essence it becomes a self contained cult of critical individuals who scrutinize every move a person makes and there are those "groups" who only keep you at arms length in everything they do like you are an extra on a film set. There are groups who just are rude, arrogant to anything that is not their group and not their way. It is even worse when it is a good mixture of those issues. Suppose it's just human nature... but it sure doesn't help the subject we are all here to find out more about.

Where the aim is to be open and share! Sharing information would eliminate this issue almost entirely and bring back some firm principle to the art of conducting investigations, being a lot more light hearted while still being professional sure helps too as people aren't robots to others whims. Everyone is made to feel part of the group, we are not just talking about organized Ghost Hunts here this filters into other aspects too.


NPN does have conditions in regards to activities carried out. once the investigation has ended. NPN are given all footage, imagery, sounds recordings and logs from everyone attending. What we do is forge a master copy within a week, transferring all data to a data CD/DVD everyone is given back all their footage and credit is given for the source of the files. What this means that everyone who attended has access to everything that was recorded not just their part of it (which may have got taped over or deleted in time anyway) makes a simple logical sense doesn't it?

Does NPN aim to deal with all different subjects under the umbrella term paranormal?

The fields of Paranormal research and investigation are huge, all covering hundreds of subjects. We do not exclusively keep ourselves to one field, whilst a vast amount of time has mainly been involved with the Spirit/Ghost activity and talking to those who have first hand encounters with the esoteric. We would certainly be more than interested to look into anything that comes our way. Which is where the "Network" part of PN will hopefully come into its own. For instance, a gentleman came to us and asked about looking into his house strange knockings and moving objects. That is a field we are well versed in and would definitely investigate then decide what we are going to do about it with the gentleman. However if someone came to us claiming he has had a sighting of a ABC (Alien Big Cat) though it may be of huge interest, it's not really our area of expertise and we would seek to forward this person along the network to someone who does have experience and knowledge in that field. Once they finish reports they would pass copies to us and so on, supporting the larger network and the bigger picture. So yes, in a sense we do and no in a sense we do not. And if we do not, we hope we will find someone who does within our network.

2009

As mentioned above 2009 was a transitional year for Nottinghamshire Paranormal Network as the title of NPN was given to our active research and investigative and Paranormal Network become the umbrella for our publishing, writing, features, articles, media and more. As well as allowing ourselves a period of adjustment whilst we (Kristian and Sylvia) moved home, and focused more on the authoring of features and researching, expanding our knowledge - touching base with a number of people.

2010

So here we are in 2010 it's time to get back to being an active team again, we have a number of interesting people looking to join with the NPN and expand our talents.

Over the couple of months it's time to put our minds together and get focused. It's an exciting time
